W4 BPM Suite and EDM / ECM

To facilitate document integration, W4 has developed a module, W4 Document Access Layer - DAL to manage documents handled in the workflow; it supports the integration of W4 BPM Suite with off-the-shelf EDM solutions (Electronic Document Management) - also known as ECM (Enterprise Content Management).

Document Access Layer Features
The main ECM system interaction features are twofold:
1. The ability to take into account an ECM document or folder during the execution of the associated workflow application with the possibility of:- Adding or consulting one or more documents in a folder in the repository and their associated attributes or properties (metadata), the possibility of deleting documents.
- Finding a file or a document on the basis of contextual workflow data.
- Checking-Out/Checking-In of a document during a controlled updates which can be recorded as a new version (document review).
- Creation of folders
- Updates of attributes / metadata
- Copying of a document from one repository to another
- Generation of documents from a template and insertion in a selected repository
