W4 Goes Open Source

W4 becomes a player in open source software with a dual licensing model Commercial/GPL for its Application Suite component.

This component is available as a part of the larger paid commercial product W4 BUSINESS FIRST composicial^tm, and is at the same time freely distributed under the name LEONARDI. The LEONARDI Application Suite framework includes LEONARDI Application Composer and is provided free as a runtime application, whereas LEONARDI Application Engine is licensed under the GNU GPL.

On the one hand, W4 seeks to create and foster a community of users who can contribute meaningfully to the development of its technology and secondly, this approach will enable underlining the added value of its commercial offer, especially that which concerns integration with BPM technology, an important factor for the European market. Another point, W4 now offers support contracts for users of LEONARDI.
