Steria's Business Process Management BPM product:

Background on POP:

The POP product is a browser-based automated workflow system for delivering sustainable solutions for following police case files for crime and disorder. It follows the principles of the national intelligence model and adopts a professional approach to problem solving.

Problem Oriented Policing proposes a common problem solving process and set of standards across the police force, which maintains an audit trail of who did what and when. It addresses HMIC concerns about how the force approaches problem solving and tackles the root causes of crime by working with partner agencies to implement sustainable solutions. It follows the "Calling Time on Crime" guidelines and has a flexible design to accommodate local force process requirements.

Problem Oriented Policing manages the process for:

Initiating the process of assessing the problem.

  • Adopting the PAT approach which analyzes the event from the perspective of offender and victim and while taking location into account.
  • Engaging with partner agencies to agree upon an appropriate set of actions to tackle the root cause of the problem.
  • Monitoring the commitment to implement the agreed-upon actions.
  • Reviewing outcomes (Did the actions impact the problem?).
  • Storage and retrieval of the process for best practice guidelines.

Everything is accessible via the intranet, which enables easy and secure access to the system for authorized personnel.

Standard forms are designed to allow for a local corporate look and feel. The system can integrate with in-house legacy systems for pre-populating defined fields of data e.g. collar number, name and location.

For ease of use, drop down menus are used wherever possible e.g. for partner agency details, contacts, email addresses etc. Standard MS reports can be designed, and the system can integrate with MIS tools such as Business Objects.

The system is seamlessly integrated with your email system for ease of communication with those involved in the process for tackling the problem. It also conforms to governmental standards for exchanging information.
